Natural IVF or mini-IVF are common terms used to describe IVF cycles done with little or no medication.  Most often these cycles are used for ‘low responders’ (women who are expected to make very few eggs during ovarian stimulation).  Sometimes these cycles are touted as a cost-saving measure because the patient will pay for the IVF cycle but not the high cost of the injectable medications.  Other times clinics will describe Natural IVF as being somehow more healthy.  Whatever the promise, Natural IVF or mini-IVF usually involves doing several IVF cycles in close succession to bank more eggs or embryos before attempting a pregnancy.  Similar to conventional IVF, the end goal is very similar: to make a higher number of embryos in the hopes of getting a successful one.  So is Natural IVF better?   At PCRM we believe the short answer is ‘no’.  A scholar in the field of infertility, Dr. Richard Scott from New Jersey, describes why in the attached blog we have re-posted.  We hope you enjoy this short but informative read:  When It Comes To In Vitro Fertilization, ‘Natural’ Isn’t Better
